The final of the Graded Men’s Triples was held in sunny and rainy conditions last Saturday and the result went down to the very last 2 ends. It was an arm wrestle of a match between the two teams.

Mike Newton, Ben Whittaker and skip, Craig Scott lined up against Ross Robson, Alistair Daley and Grant Schuberg, as skip.

It was game “on” from the very start with neither side giving an inch. When the pesty, drizzling rain came green conditions changed dramatically, however the quality of the bowls remained very high.

Shoey’s team picked up a 4 on the second last end, which gave them the lead 21 to 19. Still anyone’s game.

A toucher in the ditch very close to the jack sealed the result for Shoey’s lads 22 to 19.

Well done to both teams as you certainly put on a show for the many spectators. Thanks to Marg D for the pictures!

Can’t wait!

On Monday and Tuesday, four students from Sylvania High School, accompanied by Tim Porter and our club coaches, Lyndsay and Kay Makin, travelled to Club Merrylands Bowling to compete in the State Combined High Schools 3 Bowls Triples Championship Final.

Niko, Kai, Owen and Quinn performed exceptionally well finishing 6th out of 16 teams in a highly competitive field. Their campaign included impressive wins over Dubbo, Hornsby and Newcastle with losses to Yass in the opening round and unfortunately, to Wee Waa in the playoff.

Considering that most of their opponents were regular club bowlers, this was an outstanding achievement. Their strong performance provides great confidence heading into the Bowls NSW Schools Challenge later this year where each team is limited to just one registered club bowler.

Congratulations to Niko, Kai, Owen and Quinn on a fantastic result, and thank you to Tim Porter, Lyndsay and Kay Makin for their support and coaching throughout the event. We look forward to following the team's progress in the upcoming Schools Challenge.
